Projects

Our primary focus is the renovation of individual properties and the training of apprentices who will be the future owner/occupant landlords of the properties.  Each property is considered a specific project, with the location of the property acting as the name of the project.  The names of our apprentices are withheld in order to protect their privacy.  As a group, we use the title “Landlord Training Projects” to describe this group of activities.

We also initiate ancillary projects that support or complement our primary projects.  One set of ancillary programs focuses on the development of personal financial skills for individuals seeking to apply for the Landlord Training Projects.  These activities are labeled “Personal Financial Skills Training” projects.  They are offered as limited timeframe classes, approximately 8 weeks in length, and are combined with supportive personal mentoring.  These types of projects are offered in different neighborhoods and are labeled as “PFS” Projects, with the name of the neighborhood where they are held included as part of the name.

Our 2nd set of ancillary programs is for the training of volunteer mentors.  These programs can be free-standing, or coupled with the PFS projects.

Shadeland Avenue Landlord Training Project:  This project is the first property developed by CARE Ownership.  It is being used as our prototype for testing out the various processes and procedures that will be used on future projects.
